Opera for Android gets new AI upgrades, bringing its AI capabilities closer to those of its flagship desktop browser, Opera One. The new features include Ask AI, which provides an easy access point for all AI queries in the browser. Just tap on the search bar and select 'Ask AI' to open a new search bar, allowing you to switch between traditional web search and AI queries seamlessly. You can attach files, including PDFs and images, to the new search bar for AI translation, summarization, or explanation. Opera also enables you to use your current browser tab as context for an AI prompt, providing explanations, summaries, or translations of web page content. Opera has implemented privacy guardrails, ensuring that AI can only understand the context within the active browser tab and cannot access information outside it. Opera emphasizes that page context data is only sent to the AI Engine when necessary for the requested task and that browsing activity or history is not shared with the AI Engine. Additionally, prompt and page context data is encrypted and stored for up to 30 days, after which it is automatically deleted from the servers to ensure conversation continuity and faster processing. These updates are now available, and users can update Opera for Android through the Google Play Store.
