Right guard Jake Guarnera, who started 11 games in 2025, is the latest to leave, joining right tackle Andrew Sprague in the portal. The 6-foot-4, 311-pound redshirt freshman, who appeared in five games in 2024, was a three-star recruit from Ponte Vedra Beach, Florida. He was recruited to Michigan by former coach Sherrone Moore, who was fired for an inappropriate relationship with a staffer. Guarnera's father, Jim, was a defensive lineman at Rutgers in the 1990s. The team's new head coach, Kyle Whittingham, has been praised for his ability to bring discipline and focus to the program, which may influence Guarnera's decision.
