In a recent statement, Topuria clarified that reports suggesting he had been summoned to court in connection with domestic violence claims were inaccurate. While his ex-wife has indeed leveled accusations against him, he firmly states that he has not been served with any court summons regarding such matters.
"Throughout my journey in the public eye, I have always appreciated the fair treatment I received from the media, who play a vital role in my career," Topuria stated. "However, I understand that being a public figure exposes me to unfounded rumors and sensational stories crafted purely for clicks, often disregarding the truth and its implications."
He elaborated on the specific false claim made by a media outlet that he had been called to testify in a domestic violence case, noting that the headline was eventually retracted as it was proven untrue. "While I am always willing to cooperate with legal proceedings if necessary, I have never been summoned for this reason," he continued, emphasizing that the actual court summons relates solely to a family matter concerning his daughter and her travel plans outside of Spain.
Topuria expressed his frustration over not being able to see his daughter for four months, despite numerous efforts on his part. "I accept the consequences that come with being in the public eye; however, that does not excuse the spread of unverifiable information, the misrepresentation of facts, or the disclosure of sensitive issues involving a minor who deserves protection," he asserted.
Moreover, Topuria disclosed that the situation escalated following his decision to file for divorce and refuse unreasonable financial demands from his ex-wife. He noted, "The conflict began with my divorce petition after several weeks of discussions post-separation. Once I declined to meet certain exorbitant financial expectations, I was subsequently faced with allegations of abuse—something I had been previously threatened with, and which is now under judicial review."
As he concluded his statement, Topuria requested that the media treat his situation with the same level of respect and accuracy that they have typically shown him in the past. "All I ask is for adherence to the facts because the truth is a singular path that must be followed," he stated, leaving no room for ambiguity about his stance in this matter.
