High School Students Explore Career Options at Career Fair
In this province, career and job fair organizers emphasize the growing importance of employers actively seeking young talent before high school graduation. The Rotary Club has been instrumental in organizing various career and job fairs across the Avalon Peninsula, including a recent event at Holy Spirit High.
A diverse range of employers, including representatives from MUN, CNA, trades, and unique career paths like music, live streaming gaming, and photography, engaged with students at the fair. Many students attending were uncertain about their post-high school plans, making the fair a valuable opportunity for exploration.
Robert Boychuk, a Rotary Club member, highlighted the enthusiasm of students in engaging with companies and learning about available opportunities. He noted the significant demand for workers in both professional and trade sectors, as well as other fields.
Employers are actively seeking students interested in academic paths, internships, apprenticeships, and specialized programs. However, Boychuk also acknowledged the challenge of engaging students who may not be fully aware of the diverse career options available to them.
