The Pacers dominated the game from start to finish, never once falling behind and maintaining a commanding double-digit lead for a large portion of the match. They showcased their sharpshooting prowess by sinking 17 three-pointers, just one shy of their season high. Nembhard notably matched his personal best by hitting four of those treys.
Contributing to this impressive performance, Micah Potter, coming off the bench, also found success from beyond the arc, netting four three-pointers and finishing with a total of 14 points. Meanwhile, Jarace Walker added 13 points to the team’s score.
On the other side, the Miami Heat struggled offensively, with Tyler Herro leading the team with 21 points, seven rebounds, and four assists. However, the Heat's shooting was subpar, managing only 39.1% from the field. Jaime Jaquez Jr. chipped in with 16 points, while Bam Adebayo recorded 13 points alongside nine rebounds. This loss for Miami was particularly disappointing, as it marked their third defeat in the last four games, compounded by a frustrating start where they missed their first 11 attempts from three-point range.
This game came on the heels of another matchup between the two teams, this time in the realm of college football's national championship, further heightening the stakes and excitement in Indianapolis. Just like the previous night’s victory for the Hoosiers over Oregon, the Pacers wasted no time establishing dominance on their home court.
They quickly built an early 28-12 lead through aggressive first-quarter runs of 12-2 and 9-0, leaving Miami trailing significantly at 36-18 as they entered the second quarter. The Heat attempted a comeback at the start of the second half, scoring nine consecutive points to narrow the gap to 61-54. However, Indiana responded decisively, extending their lead back to 71-58 after consecutive three-pointers from Potter and Nembhard, ultimately pushing the advantage to 97-68 late in the third quarter.
Looking ahead, the Heat will travel to Oklahoma City for their next game on Sunday, while the Pacers are set to host the Boston Celtics in Indianapolis on Monday.
